Beyoncé and Jay-Z tie for most Grammy nominations of all time
Things must be tense in the Carter-Knowles household
Grammy nominations are out and Beyoncé is cleaning up, with nine nods this year. Her husband Jay-Z isn’t doing too badly either, with five nominations including two for his work on Renaissance. This brings the total number of times Beyoncé and Jay-Z have received a Grammy nom to 88 – each. That’s right – each member of the Carter-Knowles marriage has been nominated for 88 Grammys.
Beyoncé is nominated in several of the ceremony’s largest categories, including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. When the Grammys roll around in early February, it seems likely that she’ll pick up at least one gramophone.
“Seeing Beyoncé with that amount of nominations – it just blows me away,” said Recording Academy president Harvey Mason Jr. to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a testament to who she is, the talent she has (and) the iconic music she’s put out over the years.”
If Beyoncé or Jay-Z do win any of their categories at the ceremony, the scales could be tipped in one direction or another. For now, it’s a dead heat. We’d love to know what kind of conversations are happening at that dinner table.
