Andrea Bocelli to headline Cardiff’s new Land of Song Festival

Bocelli’s first Welsh headline concert comes to Principality Stadium as Romanza celebrates its 30th anniversary

Andrea Bocelli will play his first-ever headline concert in Wales next year, opening the inaugural Land of Song Festival at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday 8 May 2027. The Italian tenor will perform with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera and a massed choir, with the stadium configured as a fully seated indoor venue.

The concert launches a new biennial festival built around Wales’ choral tradition. Bocelli takes Saturday night, followed on Sunday 9 May by the return of Côr World Choir, which is expected to bring more than 20,000 choristers together in Cardiff. Its roots stretch back to World Choir concerts held at Cardiff Arms Park in 1992 and 1993 – events organised by the team that later established Young Voices.

For Bocelli, Cardiff arrives during a particularly busy chapter. His landmark album Romanza turns 30, and the Principality Stadium performance will feature material from the record. A newly announced 30th-anniversary edition lands in September 2026, including ‘Con te partirò’, ‘Vivo per lei’ and his Sarah Brightman duet ‘Time To Say Goodbye’. The record has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide.

Bocelli has already been taking Romanza back to the stage in 2026, including a 30th-anniversary concert in Venice’s Piazza San Marco in June. The Cardiff date extends that celebration into 2027, this time surrounded by Welsh orchestral and choral forces.

Bocelli is credited with nearly 90 million record sales and more than 25 billion streams, alongside six Grammy and six Latin Grammy nominations. Since winning the Sanremo Music Festival in 1994, he has also performed at events including the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup.
