67-year-old Killers fan is dropped whilst crowd-surfing to the stage

The enthusiastic fan sustained a minor head injury – but he did get to meet Brandon Flowers

Doug James didn’t think too far ahead when he asked new friends in the crowd to help him surf towards the stage during a Killers show in Manchester. Attending the gig with his son and daughter-in-law, the 67-year-old saw audience members lifting up a woman in a wheelchair so that she could get a better view. He said to those around him: “I’d like to have a go at that.”

Unfortunately, on his way to the stage James was dropped by crowd members. The fall left him with a minor head injury that caught the attention of Killers front man Brandon Flowers. The lead singer questioned the crowd: “Who dropped him? Is he okay? His head’s bleeding a bit, let’s take care of him.”

Flowers came down from the stage to talk with James and was assured that the man was not seriously harmed. After mistakenly hearing James’ first name as ‘Billy’, he came back onstage and told the crowd: “I said, ‘Billy, what are you doing?’ And you know what he said? He said: ‘I’m enjoying meself.’”
