There’s something effortlessly cool about South London four-piece Bamily’s sound. Although unmistakably indie at heart, an injection of funk, soul and Jurassic 5-era hip-hop pushes it beyond the realm of their immediate peers. Their recent Family With A B EP swirls around a luxurious blend of beachy vocals, deliberately lost in a sea of delicate instrumentation and backdropped by perfectly timed DJ samples that easily enhance rather than distract. It’s light and breezy – hedonistic in an understated fashion – delivering a perfect accompaniment to a sun-kissed festival field.

Bamily - Together Whatever

Having joined the likes of Omar Apollo and Bad Sounds on the road, as well as being famed for their unconventional Bamily Affairs parties across England capital, the Brixton outfit pull together the live power of indie with the heavy beats and samples of hip-hop, adopting an ethos more akin to a collective than a band. The music follows suit, soundtracking an easygoing lifestyle – one perfectly embodied both in their performance and their carefully crafted live atmosphere.

Comprising Tim Raben, Louis Fulford-Smith, Charlie Pitts and Benjy Gibson, Bamily have quickly established themselves as a the centre of their own scene across London. With Family With A B under their belts, and plenty more on the horizon, their carefree vibe looks set to wash across the country.
