What to wear: Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2014
Next week, the great and good from the world of heavy metal will come together at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
Ticketmaster is sponsoring The Best Live Act award at the ceremony, and is giving metal fans the chance to win tickets to the awards, which take place on 16 June 2014. For your chance to win tickets to the awards, simply head over to our Twitter page.
Five of the greatest metal and rock acts around have been nominated for this year’s award: The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Prodigy, Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage and Karnivool.
Voting has already closed, but if you’re lucky enough to be attending the awards but don’t have a clue what to wear, don’t despair – there’s a light in amongst the darkness and that, conversely, is the colour black.
Often regarded as the fail-safe colour to wear to an evening event, it really would be rude to attend in anything else.
Metal Men
Menswear dressing usually has more rules than a page from Leviticus, particularly when it comes to formal events. But we think that the only part of black tie that should be adhered to is the colour.

Metal Women
This is the perfect opportunity to try out summer 2014’s most unlikely trend – black. To prevent the look from becoming too teenage-Goth-rebelling-against-the-sunshine, make-up should be kept light and dewy and hair should be natural and soft.
