Simple Things 2024 in photos
A closer look at the action as Bristol's eclectic festival returned
Even from the ultra-modern and mesmeric poster you could just tell Simple Things would be a sensory overload. And so it was: as the Bristol city festival celebrated its 10th edition over the weekend, post-punk partied with techno and brushed sweaty shoulders with grime and UK hip hop, psych rock, jazz and pretty much any other sounds you thought possible.
Flowers for early acts like Antony Szmierek and L’Rain, who helped bring a festive pace to the early afternoon, plus a seemingly jet-lagged Sam Evian who took a moment to adjust to the chatty and excited crowd. Sets from Casisdead, Flowdan and Les Savy Fav felt like some of the day’s biggest ‘moments’, to borrow Glasto-speak, while those strong enough to push beyond the audio-visual sets of Max Cooper, Evian Christ and SCALER for the festival’s packed night-time billing were braver than most.
Here’s a closer look at what went down.
