Review: Action Bronson brings Mr Wonderful tour to The Roundhouse

Action Bronson kicked off the UK leg of his Mr Wonderful tour at the Roundhouse on 13 September and brought his usual bag of tricks with him.

Irish rapper Rejjie Snow opened the night with a mixed reaction from the crowd but following Rejjie was Bronson’s long-time friend and collaborator Meyhem Lauren, who set the tone for the evening with his raw Queens style of rap.

Much to the crowd’s enjoyment, Bronson was joined onstage by the legendary producer Alchemist. His appearance sent a ripple of excitement through the hardcore fans and set an expectation of what songs we would be expecting.

Bronson opened with Brand New Car from the Mr Wonderful album released earlier this year and following this continued to showcase the songs from the album and only touching on a few older hits from previous mixtapes and first release album. The crowd reacted accordingly to support act Meyhem Lauren joining Bronson on stage for the song Falconry which was also produced by DJ Alchemist.

As promised at any Bronson gig there is a surprise in store and it came in the form of gifts, shortly before the last song Bronson appeared with numerous bubble wrapped gifts dancing to Genesis ‘I can’t dance’, then proceeded to throw presents into the crowd which included Apple Watches, Coffee presses, bottles of Rose and Rice Krispies to name a few items. Spot the amateur footage for proof.

Mr Wonderful brought his A game and his confession of London being his “second home” means we should be seeing him again soon. We’ll let you know if he’s plan on returning so watch this space.
