Playlist: Hear ten essential Gavin DeGraw tracks
Not long now until American singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw comes to the UK – here’s a playlist to make time go faster.
With six studio albums under his belt, the latest record just released last autumn, Gavin DeGraw is one of America’s most talented songwriters and, in case you forgot, he wrote that tune you love from that show you religiously watched (we mean the title track to 00’s super show One Tee Hill – Chariot). Now he’s back in the UK with a run of four UK shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London.
To pass time quicker and get you (and ourselves) in the mood, we’ve put together his ten best tracks for your listening pleasure.
I Don’t Want To Be
In 2004, one of the most popular TV shows was American teen-drama One Tree Hill, so it comes to no surprise that Gavin DeGraw’s title track I Don’t Want To Be was on everyone’s radio. The song is a quite personal protest track which sees DeGraw standing proud for what he’s achieved and where he’s come from. And we’re all for that!
Soldier
Taken from DeGraw’s 2011 album Sweeter, Soldier is the slow and heart-warming love-song you need in your life.
Best I Ever Had
This up-beat track takes Gavin outside his usual pre-2013 comfort zone with kicking drums and pounding rhythms. It’s the title track off his album Make A Move.
She Sets The City On Fire
In 2016, Gavin DeGraw returned with new music and the prospect of a new album. She Sets The City On Fire came out just in time for summer and gives us exactly that sunny, festival feeling.
Chariot
Next to I Don’t Want To Be, this is probably one of DeGraw’s biggest hits, and with an catchy tune like this it’s no surprise either.
I’m In Love With A Girl
If there’s one thing you count on with Gavin DeGraw is that he writes some of the best love songs, like this rocking tune.
Fire
Fire is taken from the singer’s greatest hits album Finest Hour: The Best of Gavin DeGraw in 2014 that featured two brand new songs including this track and You Got Me.
Make A Move
For his 2014 album Make A Move, Gavin decided to take more risks in terms of going big on production. “Something beautiful happened with the landscape of music in that we’re able to take much bigger risks with the production within every genre,” he said.
We Both Know (ft. Colbie Caillat)
This collaboration with Colbie Caillat can be found on the soundtrack to the Nicholas Sparks novel turned Hollywood movie Safe Haven starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel.
Follow Through
Another hit song off DeGraw’s second studio album Chariot is Follow Through, an up-beat love song that just makes you want to dance in the moonlight.
And there you have it folks, your ultimate Gaven DeGraw playlist to get you in the mood for his UK tour in May. And the best part about it? It’ll be acoustic performances!
