One Direction named Best Live Act at the Silver Clef Awards

One Direction will receive the Best Live Act award at tonight’s Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The boy band fought off competition from the likes of Kassabian, Coldplay, Emeli Sande and The Stones Roses.

Speaking of the win, One Direction’s Harry Styles said: “Thanks to everyone who voted for us to win the Nordoff Robbins Best Live Act 2013. We are over the moon.

Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on another amazing Silver Clef Awards. What an incredible charity, helping people with music therapy.”

Fans voted for their favourite act from a shortlist that was drawn up by a panel of music industry experts, who chose their Top 30 from a list of the 100 top rated and reviewed shows on Ticketmaster UK.

Chris Edmonds, chairman of Ticketmaster UK, commented: “One Direction really is the biggest band out there at the moment, having had their very successful tour last year.

It’s great to hear from our customers which band they thought was the Best Live Act of the last 12 months and clearly One Direction really won their fans over taking just over a quarter of all votes.

This will get fans even more excited for their huge ‘Where We Are’ Stadium Tour taking place next year. Congratulations to the boys!”

The Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards 2013 hopes to raise £500,000 to fund 20,000 life-transforming music therapy sessions for children and adults across the UK.
