Alternative trio Puppy celebrate signing to Spinefarm records with Beast, part of our New Track series on Ticketmaster.
London trio Puppy have followed up last year’s acclaimed self-titled debut EP and the aptly titled Vol. II with Beast, another atypical homage to 90s grunge. Far from emulation, the track presents the distorted guitars and vocal ticks synonymous with the genre yet packages it up with a modern bow. The heaviness of the track is subtle, instead driving a melody as unsettling as the accompanying video.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with the guys over at Spinefarm, and for a company of their calibre to be involved with us is a bit of a dream come true,” the trio say of their signing to the alternative label. “Being able to say we’re on the same label as some killer bands we’re really into still feels mad when we stop and think about it, but more than anything, it’s a real honour. We are so stoked, my dudes.”
With Beast showcasing some serious things to come, Puppy will be supporting both Creeper and CKY on their respective forthcoming tours. They’ve also been confirmed for Slam Dunk Festival and Reading and Leeds later in the year.
