Meet Sigrid as she prepares for her headline London show

Sigrid is coming to London’s Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen in May.

At just 20 years old, rising Norwegian vocalist Sigrid has been turning heads this month with the release of her debut single, Don’t Kill My Vibe, through Island Records.

“[I]t may be a message to your cat, telling her that she’s not the master of the universe,” the newcomer says of the track’s ambiguity. “Or maybe it’s just a really long DM saying you’re SO done with someone.”

Either way, it’s a fiery slice of pop brilliance, brimming with an understated attitude. The subtle melody – drawing from the likes of James Blake and Lorde yet with an unashamed pop edge – is packed with youthful confidence.

It’s a style Sigrid has honed over the last few years, having began her career at the young age of 16 following a gentle challenge by her brother to write an original song and perform it at a local show with him.

Having moved from the picturesque and quiet Ålesund to her current hometown of Bergen, her sound carries some of the country’s expanse with it.

With Don’t Kill My Vibe demonstrating some serious early potential, her forthcoming London show is bound to be a fantastic opportunity to catch Sigrid live before she’s taking on the global music scene. She’ll be playing the Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen on the 17 May 2017.

Tickets for the headline show are on sale from 9AM on Wednesday 1 March 2017 through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
