Manic Street Preachers have announced a huge headline show at Cardiff Castle, celebrating the 20th anniversary of This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours.

The show, part of the multi-city Sounds of the City 2019 programme, follows an intimate 12-date UK tour marking the 1998 release.

Kicking off on 14 May 2019 in Cambridge, the band will perform in Bath, followed by two nights each in London and Manchester, before hitting Birmingham, Southampton, Edinburgh, York, Liverpool and ending in Leicester.

The hometown show at Cardiff Castle will then take place the following month, on 29 June 2019.

This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours 20 Year Collector’s Edition is due out on 7 December 2018 and includes a Limited Edition Deluxe 3 CD box set and 2 LP, with the band back on tour for a run of intimate shows in spring 2019.

The 3 CD box set includes the original album remastered by James Dean Bradfield, a disc of demos and live rehearsal recordings, and a disc of all remixes and b-sides from the album. The double LP includes the remastered album and a digital download code, as well as a limited-edition poster.

Manic Street Preachers formed in 1986 in Blackwood, Caerphilly, and consisted of cousins James Dean Bradfield – on lead vocals and lead guitar – and Sean Moore on drums, plus Nicky Wire on bass. They were joined in 1989 by Richey Edwards who became the band’s rhythm guitarist and lyricist.

The group became a trio after Edwards disappeared in February 1995 and was legally presumed dead in 2008. Manic Street Preachers have released 13 albums over their career – their debut Generation Terrorists in 1992 and 1994’s The Holy Bible have gained cult status.

This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours was the band’s fifth studio release, and won the NME Award for Best Album in 1999, as well as being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

The record featured singles The Everlasting, You Stole the Sun from My Heart, Tsunami and If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next – which holds the Guinness World Record as the No.1 single with the longest title without brackets.
