Organisers of Lovebox have confirmed their first wave of artists for 2020’s festival, returning to West London’s Gunnersbury Park from Friday 12 – Sunday 14 June 2020.
Leading the announcement is the news that US superstar Khalid is set to headline the festival’s main stage on Friday night, joining the previously announced Sunday headliner Tyler, The Creator.
Khalid released his sophomore album Free Spirit to great fanfare earlier this year, reaching No.4 on the Official UK Albums Chart.
Featuring the Grammy-nominated smash hit Talk, Free Spirit is the follow up to the musician’s breakthrough 2017 record American Teen.
One of the most streamed artists on the planet, fans at Lovebox can look forward to hearing Khalid perform tracks such as Young Dumb & Broke, Love Lies, Eastside and Better.
Taking on headline duties on Saturday night will be the UK’s own Disclosure, who’ll be bringing their brand live show to the Lovebox in their only festival performance of the summer.
The dance duo have two No.1 albums to their name, 2013’s Settle and 2015’s Caracal, and are currently hard at work in the studio working on album number three.
Also joining the line-up today is the Mercury Prize-nominated rapper Little Simz, Don’t Call Me Up hit-maker Mabel, the BRIT Award-winning Jorja Smith and the hugely renowned electronic group Hot Chip. All four artists will perform on Friday.
Los Angeles musician Anderson .Paak joins the fun with his band The Free Nationals on the Saturday, where he’s also joined by Berlin-based producer Peggy Gou.
Completing the line-up announcement is the news that the two trailblazing artists, FKA Twigs and Charli XCX, will perform on the festival’s newly added Sunday.
Last week Lovebox set the internet abuzz when they confirmed that headlining the festival’s main stage on Sunday night will be US superstar Tyler, The Creator.
The musician released his latest album Igor to great acclaim earlier this year, with the LP peaking at No.4 on the Official UK Albums Chart.
The record was well-received critically, with NME describing it as “an accomplished and evergreen record that’s well worth putting your phone down, turning the TV off and devoting your full attention span to”.
To celebrate the release of the record, Tyler performed three shows at London’s iconic O2 Academy Brixton. His first UK dates following a ban from entering the country, tickets sold out instantly.
Tyler, The Creator first broke through as the leader of the Los Angeles hip hop collective Odd Future, before releasing his hugely successful debut solo album Goblin in 2011.
Known for his eclectic style and fusing multiple genres to create his own unique sound, fans can look forward to hearing tracks such as Yonkers, 911, See You Again and Earfquake when the musician headlines Lovebox next summer.
