Looking forward to Kendrick Lamar’s UK tour

DAMN, it's not just Kendrick but James Blake too.

Following the success of his fourth studio album and US tour, in September of last year Kendrick Lamar announced a European leg. The Compton native hasn’t been on these shores since his British Summer Time Hyde Park appearance in 2016, and has not toured one of his critically acclaimed and mind-blowing albums in this country to date, but rather has done what many US artists do now and played the festivals of Europe.

Even though he’s only 30 years young, K.Dot could be seen as a veteran of modern day hip-hop and has now developed a body of work to rival that of his predecessors. He’s a highly respected contributor to the rap scene, with legends backing him consistently, without any question of a doubt of his validity and talent. Whilst the past two albums have helped to revive political hip-hop, with songs like Alright being used in marches and the Black Lives Matter movement, his social commentary is projected over some incredible beats and there are a number of bangers in his arsenal.

What we’re most looking forward to?

DAMN., last year’s critically acclaimed Kendrick Lamar album, has been widely regarded as a top ten album of 2017 and judging from the setlists from the US tour Kendrick doesn’t shy away from playing his most recent project. Let’s just hope Riri is in town to make a feature.

Much like his US tour Kendrick has pulled a very bold move and drafted in incredible live artists to warm the crowd up, and for Europe he’s put James Blake on first. Having sold out his 5 February Roundhouse gig in just over a day this gives fans an extremely unique opportunity to see two world class artists in one evening.
