Listen: Five of Agnes Obel’s finest pieces of music

Berlin-based Agnes Obel is set to appear at this year’s Summer Series at Somerset House – which includes shows from Franz Ferdinand, Little Dragon, Bastille and Daughter.

Danish born Obel, first appeared in 2010 with her haunting debut album Philharmonics. The record’s slow burning success spread throughout Europe, leading to almost half a million copies being sold, and it went on to win numerous awards in 2011.

After an extensive period on the road, Obel began recording the follow-up Aventine in 2012. The album was released late last year to yet more critical acclaim, and lead to Obel performing her largest UK headline show at the Barbican in April.

Before she heads off on a European tour in October, Obel will be playing a one-off headline show as part of Somerset House’s Summer Series on 12 July. The show is set to be one of the highlights of the series and there are still a few tickets available from here.
