Album of the Week
The post-punk duo release Infancy part II – the closing six tracks of their debut.
UK rock heavyweights Kasabian have confirmed details of a huge outdoor hometown show.
The one-off gig will see the band headline Leicester’s Victoria Park on Saturday 20 June 2020.
Sam Fender, whose debut album Hypersonic Missiles recently hit No.1 on the Official UK Albums Chart, will appear as a special guest at the date.
Easy Life and Inhaler are also confirmed to perform.
The newly announced show will mark the first time that Kasabian have performed in the UK since their raucous set at London’s O2 Academy Brixton in 2018.
The band are currently working on new music, with lead guitarist and principal songwriter Serge Pizzorno revitalised following the release of his critically acclaimed The S.L.P. solo album.
The rockers have released six studio albums to date with their five most recent releases all topping the Official UK Albums Chart.
Their latest record, For Crying Out Loud, dropped in May 2017, with NME describing the album as “chockablock with massive tunes that make an instant impact”.
Their LP discography is completed with their 2004 debut Kasabian, 2006’s Empire, 2009’s West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, 2011’s Velociraptor and 2014’s 48:13.
Some of the band’s most well-known singles include Cutt Off, Empire, Shoot The Runner, Fire, Underdog, Club Foot and Eez-eh.
Widely considered one of the best live bands that the UK has produced over the past 20 years, Kasabian have headlined festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Reading and Leeds.
In 2014 the band performed to a sold out crowd of over 35,000 at Victoria Park, Leicester, for what was at the time their biggest ever headline show to date.
Now, Kasabian will return to the same venue almost six years to the day since that momentous gig, for what will be their only UK show of 2020.
Support comes from Sam Fender, Easy Life and Inhaler.
