Here’s some family things to check out this winter

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. For many, it’s an amazing opportunity to spend time with loved ones, including those youngsters. Not always the easiest to entertain, here’s a list of some great family attractions and events to check out over the winter months.

We’ve pulled together some of the best for that family friendly inspiration, and you can find even more in our Winter Guide on Ticketmaster.co.uk.

Big Game 9
Harlequins take on Gloucester Rugby in this massive family friendly event at London’s Twickenham Stadium. As well as the game, ticket holders can enjoy a display by adrenaline sport troupe EXTREME. Ice Rinks
Who doesn’t love a bit of ice skating? Well, there’s plenty of places around the country to practice those skills, including our absolute favourites at the Natural History Museum in London, the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, and Skate at Somerset House. Each celebrates their own family oriented experience in stunning surroundings.

The Natural History Museum offers parent and toddler packages, a Penguin Skate Club as well as student specials and lessons. Tickets are available here.

The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink is an open air spectacle, located next to one of the most unique buildings the UK has to offer. There’s a huge rink side bar and restaurant with a 40 metre terrace, as well as a designated beginner’s area and penguin skate aids. Tickets are available here.

The equally stunning Somerset House hosts its own family friendly ice rink. Everyone can hone their skills at Skate School and young skaters can find their feet on the ice at Polar Cub Club. There’s also a Christmas shopping arcade on site as well as the cosy Alpine-themed Fortnum’s Lodge. Tickets are available here.

1872 Scottish Cup
The annual Rugby derby between Glasgow and Edinburgh will take place at BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh on the 26 December 2016. The Boxing Day sporting event is also family friendly, with family tickets (two adults and two children) on sale. Tickets are available here.

Football
As ever, there are so many football fixtures taking place over the holiday and into the new year, it would be impossible to list them all here. There’s even the opportunity to head to matches on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Tickets to various football matches are available here.

Disney On Ice Presents Frozen
If you’re part of a Frozen-loving family, then Disney presenting their hugely successful 2013 film on ice is the prefect ticket. At the time of writing it’s in Aberdeen for a few more days, before it heads to Sheffield and ends up in London over Christmas. There are Christmas Eve and Boxing Day performances too. And there are loads, from Cinderella at the London Palladium to Aladdin at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. Tickets to various Pantomimes are available here.
