Friendly Fires add Oxford date to forthcoming UK tour
Watch the trio chat about rediscovering their love of performing playing their new material live.
Due to demand, Friendly Fires have added a brand new date to their forthcoming UK tour.
The band will now perform at O2 Academy2 Oxford on Tuesday 29 October 2019.
Tickets for the gig will be available from 9:00 on Friday 11 October 2019 through Ticketmaster.co.uk
After last year’s triumphant return from hiatus, much-loved indie rockers Friendly Fires are now preparing for more headline shows, having dropped their Inflorescent full-length in August. The short run of shows will see the band take to the stage in Oxford, London, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin in late October and early November.
After a short break from releasing music and playing live, Friendly Fires made their return last summer with a handful of festival appearances and a joyous sold-out headline show at O2 Academy Brixton.
Following a number of small club shows at the end of 2018, they dropped their highly anticipated third studio album – and first since reforming – in the midst of the summer.
The record features singles Love Like Waves, Heaven Let Me In, Lack Of Love, and Silhouettes.
Since breaking through in 2008 with their self-titled debut album, Friendly Fires have become one of the most popular bands on these shores. The debut, featuring singles such as Jump in the Pool, Skeleton Boy and Kiss Of Life peaked at No.21 on the Official UK Albums Chart and earned the band a nomination of the Mercury Prize.
The band’s second-effort Pala was their most commercially successful to date, and charted at No.6 on the Official UK Albums Chart. The album received rave reviews from the likes of The Guardian, NME and Drowned in Sound.
The trio recently took time out to chat about their new material, and playing it live for fans across the summer and into their forthcoming headline shows. Watch the interview above, and catch the band live on the following dates:
29 October 2019 – O2 Academy2 Oxford
30 October 2019 – Roundhouse, London
1 November 2019 – O2 Institute, Birmingham
2 November 2019 – Albert Hall, Manchester
4 November 2019 – The Academy, Dublin
