Five things we learned from 5 Seconds of Summer’s live show

We headed to The O2 last week to catch the second London date of 5 Seconds of Summer‘s Sounds Live Feels Live tour.

It was an emotional evening, that’s for sure, but here are five of our favourite moments…

1. Their fanbase is unrivalled

It’s been a while since we’ve had our eardrums put under the kind of strain that comes with a 5SOS concert. The O2 is literally buzzing from the sound of screaming fans and it’s all sorts of inspiring as everyone waves their phone lights in the air, sings along and generally hangs on the band’s every word.

2. 5SOS LOVE to play live

You can tell when a musician treasures their tools, and the foursome that make up 5SOS – Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin – are no exception. There are guitar solos, drum solos and acoustic numbers that show off the band’s talent brilliantly.

3. They don’t skimp on the staging

Confessing that it’s long been their dream to headline The O2 (naturally…), the band haven’t missed any details where their production is concerned. It’s huge, it’s bright and it’s build for crowd interaction. Proof that this lot don’t need pyro to make their point.

4. The new record sounds GREAT

The problem with having so many fan favourites, is that is can be seriously troubling to work in new material. Luckily Money, Jet Black Heart, She’s Kinda Hot, and Vapor demonstrate the strength of their 2015 release. There isn’t a lull throughout the entire set.

5. Their sing-alongs are SO. MUCH. FUN.

Whether you’ve bought into the 5SOS hype or not, it’s pretty much impossible to ignore their sheer infectiousness. We haven’t been singing much else since this show. WUH UH OH – OH OH!
