Alongside releasing some of the most iconic songs of all time, Elton John also has a penchant for truly iconic music videos that compliment his music.

The news that the musical legend is hitting the road for the final time in 2020 got us feeling nostalgic, and got us digging through YouTube.

Here are five of our favourite Elton John music videos.

I’m Still Standing

The location! The choreography! The outlandish outfits! The I’m Still Standing video is everything you imagine an Elton John video should be. The video was filmed on location in Cannes and Nice and Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli stars as one of the video’s dancers.

Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me with George Michael

Raw, emotion. The official music video for Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me was a live recording filmed at the Chicago leg of Michael’s Cover to Cover tour. Lifelong friends, Elton was devastated when George Michael passed away in 2017 writing “I have lost a beloved friend – the kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist.”

Tiny Dancer

Despite the single originally coming out in 1972, the official video for the timeless love letter to Los Angeles was only released in 2017. The video was produced as part of a competition for fans to submit video concepts for classic Elton tracks. Max Welland won, with his video based around people driving through the city of angels whilst listening to the song in their cars.

Don’t Go Breaking My Heart (feat. Kiki Dee)

Simple but effective, the video for Don’t Go Breaking My Heart features a relaxed Elton and Kiki, recording the hit duet in a recording studio. The pair went on to perform the song together on stage at Wembley Stadium for Live Aid in 1985.

Are You Ready For Love?

The super-colourful video for Are You Ready For Love? provided a fun-filled retro-throwback when it dropped in 2003. The video helped the remix of the track, which was originally recorded in 1977 hit the top of the UK Official Singles Chart.
