He'll now take to England's capital on 10 - 11 September 2021.
Elbow have announced UK tour dates, coinciding with the release of a special re-recorded version of Kindling, taken from this year’s Little Fictions release.
Kindling (Fickle Flame) features John Grant, who will also be the very special guests on their upcoming tour.
Elbow’s newly announced tour sees them play five arenas across the UK, starting at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on the 2 March 2018, and rounding off with a headline show at London’s O2 on Wednesday 7 March 2018.
The dates extend the Little Fictions tour, following a run of sold out theatre shows in March 2017, which included residencies in Manchester, London and Edinburgh. They have also made a handful of festival appearances across Europe throughout the summer, celebrating their latest album.
Elbow and John Grant share a musical history, having toured the US together in 2014. Their new collaboration came out of a speculative conversation between the members of Elbow. Vocalist Guy Garvey explains:
“We are always looking for ways to lead new ears to our records and the idea of duetting with John on the track came from a dressing room conversation in Cork. I felt that there was space in the song between the original vocals for a sympathetic voice and a romantic close harmony. John was the first person that came to mind for us when we thought about who could do that.
The last guest on an elbow record was Richard Hawley on ‘The Fix’ which is a Matthau / Lemmon style comedic caper. I felt I could write friendship into a romantic song and as John is both a good friend and a true romantic it worked perfectly. We like to think the listener can feel the beards nuzzling on either side of their neck.”
Elbow have released seven studio albums to date, emerging with Asleep In The Back in 2001, and growing from strength to strength since. They won the Mercury Music Prize in 2008 for the stunning The Seldom Seen Kid, as well as a BRIT Award for Best British Group in 2012.
