Download named ‘Best Major Festival’ at 2013 UK Festival Awards

Download festival has been named Best Major Festival at the 2013 UK Festival Awards.

The festival awards, established in 2004, took place at London’s Roundhouse last night and was hosted by Phill Jupitus.

This year’s Download festival featured headline performances from Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein.

Dowload Promoter Andy Copping commented: “I’m immensely honoured that Download has been named Best Major Festival at the UK Festival Awards, especially considering the other British Institutions we were up against.

“Myself and the Download team work tirelessly every year to continue to make Download a festival we and the fans can be proud of.

It’s been an incredible journey to watch it grow over the years, to become Europe’s biggest rock festival and now the Best Major Festival in the UK. We’re currently working day and night to ensure that Download 2014 will be the best yet. I can’t wait. Bring it on.”

Aerosmith, Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park are set to headline Download 2014, which takes place at Donington Park from 13 – 15 June. Tickets are on sale now.
