CMAT has announced a new album along with UK tour dates
The country-pop star will release Euro-Country this August
CMAT has announced that her new album, Euro-Country will be released August 29, with its first single ‘Running/Planning’ out now. Accompanying this announcement is news of It’s the Euro-Country Tour! which will visit cities around the UK this October.
The UK leg of the tour will kick off on October 2 at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, going on to visit Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, Nottingham, Cambridge, Brighton, Birmingham, Norwich, Sheffield and Bristol. Tickets go on general sale Friday 4 April at 10am.
Euro-Country is the follow up to CMAT’s breakout second album, Crazymad, For Me, released in October 2023. The album saw the Irish singer nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize and made the Guardian’s list of the best albums released that year.
Speaking about the album, CMAT said: “Euro-Country is, I think, the best thing I have ever made. I felt halfway through recording it was the most important record I’ve made for myself… mainly because it was making me go crazy.”
She described the album’s first single, ‘Running/Planning’ as being “about having to chase your own tail to be good enough to exist. It’s an abstracted view of societal pressure on women – specifically through a relationship lens: You start dating someone, you get engaged, you get married, you have kids etc… everything has to follow this linear pattern.
“That narrow path that everyone is supposed to be on… the minute you get outside of that, it gets incredibly stressful. And I don’t know anyone who is like, ‘Yeah, love this!’”
CMAT will also play festival sets this summer at Bearded Theory, Neighbourhood Weekender and Wide Awake Festival, as well as opening for Sam Fender at St James Park in Newcastle.
