The band chat about incorporating songs from What's It Like Over There? into their set.
Breaking through in 2013 with their anthemic debut album Young Chasers, Liverpool’s Circa Waves have become the quintessential festival band, armed with sing-along hits such as T-Shirt Weather and Fossils, that sound like they were made for thousands of people to dance around in the sunshine to.
Whilst Young Chasers and its 2017 follow-up Different Creatures featured all the trademarks of a high-energy indie band, the foursome moved in a slightly different direction for their latest record.
Released in April this year, What’s It Like Over There? sees the band experiment with new instrumentation, relying less on guitars and moving away from the sound that first made them famous. The Circa Waves evolution hasn’t changed one thing though, the band have retained their ability to write a catchy as you like chorus.
We caught up with Sam Rourke and Kieran Shudall from the band to discuss how they’ve found incorporating songs from the new album into their set list.
Fans can catch Circa Waves at the following festivals this summer:
3 August 2019 – Coombe Weekender, Coventry
23 August 2019 – Reading Festival
24 August 2019 – Leeds Festival
30 August 2019 – Fusion Presents, Liverpool
