The feminist punk band will now play two nights at the venue.
Due to incredible demand, Bikini Kill have added a second night at O2 Academy Brixton on 11 June 2019.
The band’s original line-up of Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail and Kathi Wilcox will be joined by Dawn Lyle on guitar.
Breaking through in 1990, Bikini Kill are credited with starting the Riot Grrrl movement through their politically charged lyrics, zines and confrontational live shows.
The band released three studio albums throughout their career, 1991’s Revolution Girl Style Now!, 1993’s Pussy Whipped and the 1996 record Reject All American before disbanding in 1997.
Some of the band’s most well-known tracks include New Radio, Rebel Girl, Double Dare Ya and Feels Blind.
A highly influential band of the ’90s, artists who have cited Bikiki Kill as an influence include Brody Dalle from The Distillers, Kim Gorden from Sonic Youth, Pussy Riot and Hollywood actress Brie Larson.
Fierce advocates for women’s rights, Bikini Kill were pioneers in making gigs, and in particular punk rock shows safe spaces for women and their lyrics often confront social injustices that women face. The band were founded on the notion that if all girls started bands, the world would be a better and fairer place.
After 22 years apart, Bikini Kill surprised the world when they announced their reunion early this year, with a handful of shows planned in Los Angeles and New York.
Now the punk rockers have their sights set on London, where they’ll be performing their only European gigs of 2019.
