Let Olivia Dean charm you at the OVO Hydro

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Olivia Dean hits Glasgow this week! Performing at the OVO Hydro as the first stop on her Art of Loving UK/EU tour, the 27-year-old is known for her sunny seventies-inspired soul-pop. Indeed, this resurgence in genre has taken the world by storm since the singer is now repeatedly topping charts and charming fans with her infectiously joyful stage presence. We’ve no doubt this show will be one to remember since Dean seems to have a knack for acing pretty much any performance she does, so have a check to see if any tickets are left! Groove to Amber Mark’s Grammy-nominated R&B hits

Amber Mark has been climbing the ladder since opening for Sabrina Carpenter on her Short n’ Sweet tour, performing to sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden along the way. Now, she’s Glasgow-bound for her Pretty Idea tour which contains several UK stops. The singer is gaining recognition for her groovy R&B/urban soul music which never quite settles on one genre, but neither should it! Singles from the tour’s album namesake including ‘Sweet Serotonin’ and ‘Let Me Love You’ have been proven hits with live audiences, and her fanbase is growing by the second. Thrash to Just Mustard’s iconic Irish rock

- When: Thursday 23 April
Having come all the way from Dundalk in Ireland’s County Louth originally, Just Mustard are some of the nation’s favourite experimental Irish rock bands. The five-piece group fronted by singer Katie Ball started off debuting the hazy shoegaze album Wednesday. Since then, they’ve come out with two more albums, the most recent of which came out late last year, and both of them have experimented with a different type of variegated rock. Now, they’re on a UK tour which ends this month, so waste no time in snatching a chance to see them live. Tickets below!

Melt into the sound of Steph Strings’ acoustic folk

Australian songstress Steph Strings is fresh off the release of her debut album, Feel Alive, which came out in January this year. To mark such a feat, she’s currently embarked on a world tour spanning Europe, the UK, Australia and the US. Speaking to Rolling Stone Australia, Strings said her debut album is the most confident and expansive yet. To do this, she’s mixed flavours of folk, rock, country and pop together with mostly pensive guitar work and accompanying percussion. Spend an evening at a music showcase which depicts some of the most exciting new acts Glasgow has to offer. On 24 April, Oran Mor will be hosting performances by The High Flats, Kyle O Band, High Calibre, Studio 8 and Defenestrate. It’s the perfect way to expand your music taste and spend an otherwise free evening. Plus, we think it’ll be way better with a pal by your side! Rejoice in brilliant gothic rock by The Nosferatu

The Nosferatu are a highly seasoned band who first gained prominence in the 1990s. Formed originally in 1987 as the Rise era Nosferatu, this trio of unapologetic goth rockers know exactly how to put on a good show. Expect a wealth of screeching guitars and sonorous vocals from frontman Tim Vic, all tied together with some boundless orchestral passages. The band only recently reunited in 2019 after breaking up in 1994, but since then they’ve played several headline shows across European countries including Spain, Greece, Germany, Belgium and Italy. Rave all day at Day Fever

If you’ve got a free Saturday coming up, consider spending it at Day Fever, the day-time clubbing event hosted from 3-8pm on 25 April. The idea is to let people disco to their heart’s content on a weekend without having it ruin their Sundays in any way. This one is particularly for those who reckoned their clubbing days were behind them but they’ve still got that spark of curiosity, or perhaps for others who don’t feel confident going to a regular nightclub. Pine for lost loves with Vancouver talent Sophia Stel

Vancouver musician Sophia Stel has quite the origin story. First of all, she self-produced her music in the very same venue where she once worked as a bartender. Secondly, she’s walked a Parisian runway before. Oh, and she’s now signed with A24 Music. What else could possibly intrigue you? Stel has made some anthemic music for those in a particularly lovesick frame of mind, so we don’t doubt this gig will be a cathartic one for anyone who considers that to be up their street at the moment.
