The tour will stop in the UK this autumn for dates in London, Birmingham and Manchester, with support coming from Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Liz Phair.

The newly announced tour is in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the musician’s groundbreaking album Jagged Little Pill, which was released in June 1995 and was Morissette’s first record to be released globally.

The record’s origins began when, after struggling to write back home in Canada, Morissette decamped to Los Angeles where she met songwriter and producer Glen Ballard. The two struck an instant connection, helping to move Morissette away from the dance-pop sound of her first two albums and towards a more alternative rock sound.

With modest expectations, the record’s release was preceded by its lead single You Oughta Know, which became a sleeper radio hit and helped to send Jagged Little Pill to the top of the UK and US album charts.

The record spawned a further five singles: Hand In My Pocket, You Learn, Head Over Feet, All I Really Want and the multi-platinum selling Ironic, her biggest single to date.

At the 1996 Grammy Awards, Morissette took home the gongs for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album, and Album Of The Year.

The record also inspired a musical, also titled Jagged Little Pill, which opened on Broadway last year.

Morissette is currently putting the finishing touches to her forthcoming ninth studio album Such Pretty Forks In The Road, which is due for release on 1 May 2020.

The musician recently released the second single from the new album. Listen to Smiling below:
