Slam Dunk Festival announces initial 2021 line-up

The festival will return to Leeds and Hatfield in May 2021.

Organisers of Slam Dunk Festival have announced the first names for the rescheduled event, taking place in May 2021. The festival will take to Temple Newsam, Leeds on Saturday 29 May 2021 and Hatfield Park, Hatfield on Sunday 30 May 2021.

Having promised to work to keep as many of the bands as possible from the 2020 line-up, Slam Dunk organises have confirmed that Don Broco and Sum 41 will headline in 2021, alongside the return of the much-celebrated Punk In Drublic Stage, which will welcome NOFXPennywiseMe First And The Gimme GimmesReel Big FishThe Vandals and Face To Face.

Don Broco are set to headline off the back of 2018’s Technology, a record which scored the Bedfordshire rockers their highest UK charting position to date.

The four piece – comprising Rob Damiani, Simon Delaney, Matt Donnelly and Tom Doyle – rose through the British underground with Thug Workout towards the end of the ’10s, before releasing their debut Priorities in 2012 and their mainstream breakthrough Automatic three years later.

They most recently unveiled new single ACTION in 2019, teaming up with some of the global rock scene’s most prominent vocalists for an alternative version.

They join co-headliners Sum 41, who dropped their seventh studio album Order In Decline in 2019, having made a permanent stamp on the pop-punk scene since their All Killer No Filler debut in 2001. Leading the charge with singles Fat Lip and In Too Deep, the band have remained a live fixture across the globe ever since.

Slam Dunk Festival will also welcome back the Punk In Drublic Stage, headlined and curated by Los Angeles punk veterans NOFX.

“It is with a very heavy heart I have to inform you that Slam Dunk Festival 2020 is postponed to 2021,” the festival revealed earlier this summer, upon rescheduling the event.

Originally scheduled to welcome the likes of Alkaline Trio, The Used, Billy Talent, and While She Sleeps alongside headliners Don Broco and Sum 41, organisers confirmed that they were working on keeping as many of the bands as possible for 2021.

“We are currently working on the lineup, and should be able to reveal this quite quickly, as most bands due to play this year are able to come back for you in 2021,” the statement continued. “Slam Dunk is an independent festival run by a small and committed team, all of whom hugely appreciate your patience and support on this. We will be announcing shortly some details of some merch and possibly other events to support us until we see you again in 2021.”
