Edinburgh Summer Sessions reschedule to 2021

Here's what fans need to know about the event, returning to Princes Street Gardens in August 2021.

Edinburgh Summer Sessions have rescheduled their 2020 shows to 2021, welcoming some of the world’s biggest artists to the city’s Princes Street Gardens from 8 – 15 August 2021.

Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be contacted by our Customer Services team with more information.

Kicking off proceedings on Sunday 8 August 2021 will be legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones, who opened the festival on its inaugural year in 2018. The musician will bring with him classics such as It’s Not Unusual and Sex Bomb. Due to incredible demand, Tom will also headline the event on Tuesday 10 August 2021.

Michael Kiwanuka will headline the festival on Monday 9 August 2021. The Londoner released his third studio album Kiwanuka in October 2019 to rave reviews.

Music icon Lionel Richie will take to the stage on Wednesday 11 August 2021, performing at the festival for the first time.

Richie comments: “I’m really looking forward to heading back to Scotland next summer, the crowds are some of the best in the world and I can’t wait to get back over there to see you all.”

Travis, who return to Edinburgh after a lengthy absence, will take to Summer Sessions on Friday 13 August 2021. The band recently celebrated the twentieth anniversary of their seminal album The Man Who, which spawned the hit tracks Driftwood and Why Does It Always Rain On Me?. They are currently gearing up for the release of their new album, 10 Songs, in October 2020, revealing new tracks A Ghost and Valentine.

Glasgow band Simple Minds, known for singalong anthems such as Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Belfast Child, will round off the festival on Sunday 15 August 2021.

Located in the heart of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh Summer Sessions sees artists perform against the backdrop of the iconic Edinburgh Castle and takes place during the world-famous Edinburgh Festival.

Now in its third year, Edinburgh Summer Sessions alumni includes Lewis Capaldi, Paloma Faith, CHVRCHES, Primal Scream and Madness.
