Here are our picks for summer music festivals that all ages can enjoy together.
Due to phenomenal demand, Edinburgh Summer Sessions have confirmed that Tom Jones will now perform two nights at the event.
The newly announced second show will see the legend take to the stage on Monday 10 August 2020, adding to the previously announced Saturday 8 August date.
Tickets for the new date are available right now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
Some of the world’s biggest artists will come to Edinburgh Summer Sessions to perform at the city’s Princes Street Gardens from 8 – 20 August 2020.
Kicking off proceedings on Saturday 8 August will be legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones, who opened the festival on its inaugural year in 2018. The musician will bring with him classics such as It’s Not Unusual and Sex Bomb. Due to incredible demand, Tom will also headline the event on Monday 10 August 2020.
Tuesday 9 August will see another music icon take to the stage as Lionel Richie performs at the festival for the first time.
Richie comments: “I’m really looking forward to heading back to Scotland next summer, the crowds are some of the best in the world and I can’t wait to get back over there to see you all.”
Michael Kiwanuka will headline the festival on Tuesday 11 August. The Londoner released his third studio album Kiwanuka in October to rave reviews.
Arena pop makers The 1975 will return to Scotland to make their Edinburgh Summer Sessions debut on Wednesday 12 August. The band are currently preparing for the release of their forthcoming new album Notes On A Conditional Form.
Wednesday 13 August will see a headline performance from the much-loved UK pop rockers Mcfly, who are continuing their comeback trail following their return from hiatus.
The festival’s final two headliners will see triumphant sets from homegrown heroes.
Glasgow band Simple Minds, known for singalong anthems such as Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Belfast Child, will headline on the festival’s penultimate night on Tuesday 18 August.
Closing the festival on Thursday 20 August will be Travis, who return to Edinburgh after a seven year absence. The band recently celebrated the twentieth anniversary of their seminal album The Man Who, which spawned the hit tracks Driftwood and Why Does It Always Rain On Me?.
Located in the heart of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh Summer Sessions sees artists perform against the backdrop of the iconic Edinburgh Castle and takes place during the world-famous Edinburgh Festival.
Now in its third year, Edinburgh Summer Sessions alumni includes Lewis Capaldi, Paloma Faith, CHVRCHES, Primal Scream and Madness.
