Fresh Comedy Roundup
The best and buzziest names in comedy touring the rest of 2024 and into the new year
Whether you’re still nursing the post-Edinburgh Fringe blues or hoping to fill your winter calendar with something to look forward to, you’re in luck. Some of the freshest and funniest names in comedy are taking their shows across the UK over the next six months, and here are our picks of the best.
Matt Bragg
Having supported the likes of Ricky Gervais, John Bishop and Suzi Ruffell, Matt Bragg’s dry, observation style of humour has a timeless appeal, with slick use of callbacks and other classic set pieces.

Tatty Macleod
Bilingual Tatty Macleod came to prominence during lockdown with her witty observations on the cultural differences between the English and the French. Fugue takes these to a bigger stage, while offering an insight on a comedian stuck between two identities herself.

Max Fosh
Prank-based humour can sometimes leave an unpleasant taste, but Max Fosh’s style of YouTube antics are more about big, surreal ideas than taking aim at innocent bystanders. His new show Loophole is like a lecture presentation offering a window into this madness.

Sophie Duker
The Taskmaster favourite is back with a new show that’s all about embracing delusions, or ‘delulu’ as she lovingly calls it, which springboards a fun but chaotic approach involving sugar daddies and therapy with her father.
Sophie Duker is touring But Daddy I Love Her from 25 October – 9 May β find tickets here
Eshaan Akbar
The voice of Rishi Sunak, Sajid Javid and Narendra Modi on Spitting Image, and Principal LakhaniΒ on the recent season of Sex Education, Eshaan Akbar’s momentum is really snowballing at the moment. It’s a good thing too: no topic seems too on the nose to get in his way.

Troy Hawke
You may know him as the moustachioed matinee idol greeting shoppers outside Poundland or welcoming the Manchester City team to training, but Troy Hawke is enjoying more than just a viral moment. In his new show the debonair gentleman “explores exactly why a well-dressed man simply being nice to people has caused such a kerfuffle.” Expect compliments and salutations.

Rachel Fairburn
An absolute hit at the Fringe with two separate shows, Rachel Fairburn is on everyone’s lips at the moment for her straight-talking, oversharing style like that of a best friend who tells you how it is. Side Eye is the All Killa No Filla host’s first foray into character character comedy as she explores the lives of seven very different but connected people who might catch our attention in public.

Rhys Nicholson
Huge Big Congratulations! is, as its title suggests, a celebratory landmark in the Australian comic’s career, as they use recent successes and marriage to springboard into commentaries about family, porn and current affairs with their incredibly quick, dry and acerbic style.
Laura Smyth
Laura Smyth’s latest tour charts her remarkable journey navigating breast cancer, coming out the other side and building on a comedy career that seems to only be going from strength to strength.

Maisie Adam
From panel shows to celebrity football matches, Leeds’ own Maisie Adam is everywhere right now. All the more reason to see Appraisal before she gets even bigger, a show that, with her anecdotal and relatable style, sees Adam give herself a performance review of the last few years.
