Ardal O’Hanlon announces 2020 UK dates
See his new show The Showing Off Must Go On next spring.
Due to demand, Irish comedian and actor Ardal O’Hanlon has extended his The Showing Off Must Go On tour into 2020.
The new run of dates kicks off in Winchester on Friday 14 February 2020, taking in a total of 14 shows, finishing at the Opera House, Buxton on Saturday 7 March 2020.
Tickets for the new dates will be available from 10:00 on Wednesday 25 September 2019 through Ticketmaster.co.uk
From 1995 to 1998, O’Hanlon won our hearts on the TV show Father Ted playing lovable Father Dougal McGuire, a simple-minded Catholic priest. Fans may also remember him from the comedy My Hero. He starred as mild-mannered shopkeeper George Sunday, the human alias of superhero Thermoman from the planet Ultron, from 2000 to 2005.
Currently, O’Hanlon appears on the Caribbean police drama Death in Paradise as lead detective DI Jack Mooney.
Although he has had a lengthy television history, O’Hanlon first found fame as a stand-up comedian, winning the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year competition in 1994. Over the years he’s returned to the comedy circuit regularly, as well as made special appearances at festivals and on programmes like Live at the Apollo.
With raging populism, #MeToo, identity politics and much more, the world is certainly a complicated place – but one that’s still funny, and this is what O’Hanlon intends to convey on his latest tour. In, The Showing Off Must Go On, he’ll ride fearlessly into the culture wars (with a white hankie in his pocket just in case), but he’ll also be discussing lighter things like peak avocado and £15 gin and tonics.
