Meet the artists playing Ticketmaster New Music showcases at The Great Escape 2024
From Picture Parlour to Lauren Mayberry, don't miss these acts performing at our TGE showcases
After all the TGE Presents teasers in London, The Great Escape festival is finally just around the corner. Hitting Brighton’s venues, bars, theatres and wherever else can squeeze in a few amps and a drum kit, the festival features hundreds of acts on the rise.
All the choice can be overwhelming, but our Ticketmaster New Music stages are a great place to start. This year, we’ll be taking over Horatio’s on the Pier on Thursday evening, before having The Deep End on the beach all to ourselves on Friday afternoon.

Horatio’s, Thursday 16 May
freekind.
Blending familiar hip hop, pop, R&B and jazz ingredients, Croatian-Slovenian duo freekind. find fresh ways to push the envelope. Their luminous, groove-laden brand of neo-soul is generous and open-hearted, yet lyrically sharp and self-assured, giving in to reverie without losing sight of the world they want to be part of. The duo released their rap-centric debut album, Since Always And Forever in 2023, while this year started on a high note, as they were named winners of a Music Moves Europe Award (MME). Driven by poignant, contemporary stories invoking hope and kindness, their bracing rhythmic blend is good vibes all around.

Brògeal
An on-the-rise band with a lot of heart, it won’t take long listening to Brògeal to realise that they’re Scottish, as they belt out knee-slapping folk-rock choruses from tracks such as ‘Girl From NYC through strong Falkirk accents. They even called their label Craic Den.

Cardinals
Cork has a rich indie pop history (Frank & Walters, Power Of Dreams, Sultans Of Ping FC) and Cardinals have already proved themselves worthy to share in that legacy. The jaunty noise of latest single ‘Unreal’ provides an immediate dopamine hit, while ‘Roseland’ weaves folk rhythms and frantic accordions into a chaotic aural soup. Fascinating and unpredictable, the band’s future looks incredibly bright.

Picture Parlour
A rare word-of-mouth sensation of the internet age, audacious retro-indebted rockers Picture Parlour gained unprecedented widespread attention before releasing any music in the world. Even Courtney Love couldn’t hide her affection for them. With only two singles out, including the anthemic ‘Norwegian Wood’, now’s your chance to hear the rest of their setlist before everyone else.

TGE Beach – The Deep End, Friday 17 May
Eva Ruiz
Hopefully bringing some of the Canary Islands’ sun to Brighton beach on Friday afternoon is singer-songwriter, actor and model Eva Ruiz. Though by no means new to the stage, her latest single ‘Impossible Love’ suggests that Ruiz has traded in the pop ballads for cool and calming neo-soul and R&B.

Girlband!
This Nottingham trio are so hot off the press their first single was only officially released in February, so you’ll have to catch this self-professed “bulletproof wolfpack” for yourselves, but think 80s rock ballads meet the best of 90s Britpop.

Lauran Hibberd
Wet Leg might have put Isle of Wight on the indie rock map in the early 2020s, but their fellow native Lauran Hibberd had already begun breaking out with her garage rock crush anthem ‘Call Shotgun’. A few years on and the grunge-popper is two albums in, with this year’s girlfriend material adding a wealth of glossy but cathartic pop rock to her setlist.

NOAHFINNCE
A child of the internet, as his debut album and accompanying documentary explore, NOAHFINNCE has been a YouTuber and musician since the mid-2010s. But 2024 is undoubtedly the biggest in the Ascot-born artist’s career to date, having already toured the states and supported Enter Shikari at Wembley Stadium.

CHINCHILLA
A fan of statement hats and dark dancefloor belters, Daisy Bertenshaw’s CHINCHILLA project pairs hard-hitting 808 slaps with haunting vocals that flit from the candid and confessional to full-throated screams. 2023’s breakout single ‘Girl Get Gone’ capsulises this range perfectly, but listen out for alt country bop ‘Trigger’.

Pip Blom
Amsterdam trio Pip Blom are no strangers to The Great Escape, having first visited Brighton’s shores back in 2017 armed with scratchy, happy-go-lucky ear worms such as ‘I Think I’m In Love’ and ‘Babies’. Seven years on and Pip and co. have a bigger bite and a fuller sound that fills space with dance-punk electronica and grooves.

Lauren Mayberry
Yes, the very same Lauren Mayberry from Chvrches. The Scottish singer began exploring her own solo route last year that journeyed from a piano ballad (‘Are You Awake?’) to the rhythmic, off-kilter electro-pop you might expect with ‘Shame’ and ‘Change Shapes’. Closing off the Beach Stage on Friday night, we expect this to be one of the sets of the weekend.
