Interview: we meet Blue ahead of their 2015 UK tour
Blue are up there with some of the things we cherish most about the ’90s. Them, and washed-out denim dungarees, of course.
Now, with a successful reunion under their belts and a revitalised reason to tour, the mischievous foursome are hitting the road again later this month.
We caught up with Blue – Lee Ryan, Duncan James, Anthony Costa and Simon Webbe – to get the lowdown on their 2015 tour…
Hi guys, how’re you feeling about your next tour?
Lee: “We are such great friends, it’s nice to be able to spend so much time together. Every single city will be great – we are so lucky to have the best fans.”
How does touring in 2015 compare to when you started out?
Duncan: “We are in bed a lot earlier! We’ve grown up and so it’s very much lights out by 10pm. But our love for touring is the same as it was when we first started out.”
What can fans expect from the setlist on this tour?
Ant: “Fans can expect to be up in their seats so we encourage them to wear dance-friendly shoes! Wow, we sound old… Its feel good music.”
What’s your favourite song to perform live?
Lee: “Allll of them! We can’t have a favourite.”
What album or songs have you been playing in the dressing room and tour bus?
Simon: “Lee loves James Bay so we’ve been enjoying that. We’re also loving Ellie Goulding, and Ella Eyre is doing amazing things right now.”
Who takes the longest to get ready before a show?
Simon: “Duncan, without a doubt!”
And who’s the last one to go to bed after?
Duncan: “Definitely Simon!”
When you’re not getting early nights, how do you keep yourself entertained while on the road?
Ant: “Whenever Lee-Roy is around we are thoroughly entertained. There is a lot of laughter on the tour bus.”
Blue’s UK tour kicks off on 21 March at Portsmouth Guildhall, with dates in Plymouth, Cardiff, Bristol, Wolverhampton, London and more. Get tickets, plus Meet and Greet packages at Ticketmaster.co.uk.
