Aisha Jawando took over the title role of Tina Turner in July 2019 from Nkeki Obi-Melekwe, who joined Adrienne Warren – who originated the West End role – on Broadway.

Before taking over as the show’s lead, Jawando portrayed Alline Bullock – Tina’s sister – since the West End premiere.

Adrienne Warren, who played the role of Tina since the show’s opening, is currently leading the Broadway production of the musical, which premiered in October 2019.

From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock’n’Roll, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.

TINA – The Tina Turner Musical has been written by Katori Hall, alongside Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. Choreography comes from Anthony van Laast, with set and costume design by Mark Thompson.
