The Winter Gardens Blackpool have unveiled a trio of musicals heading to Blackpool on their debut UK tours.

Purple Rain will reach the city in April 2018, celebrating the music of one of the world’s greatest pop-stars, Prince. A 26-strong group of musicians, singers and dancers will bring the icon’s music to life, taking audiences through his entire career. The production is directed by Gary Lloyd, who previously worked on Thriller Live.

Fat Friends, based on the hit TV show, will reach the Opera House in May 2018, with original music by Nick Lloyd Webber. The musical comedy follows the lovable characters as they are put through their Zumba paces at their local branch of Super Slimmers. The cast includes West End favourite Jodie Prenger, and X Factor winner Sam Bailey.

Titanic The Musical, arriving in July 2018, tells real life stories from the doomed ship. Created by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone, the musical focuses on the passengers’ hopes and aspirations. Unaware of the fate that awaits them, the Third Class immigrants dream of a better life in America, the newly-enfranchised Second Class dream of achieving the lifestyles of the rich and famous, and the millionaire Barons of the First Class dream of their mastery lasting forever.

“2018 is already shaping up to be a fantastic year at the Winter Gardens and 3-brand new musicals on their first ever tours are welcome additions offering something for everyone,” says Managing Director Michael Williams. “Blackpool is fast becoming a key destination for the major shows and events now touring the UK.”

All three productions are on sale now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
