Having secured a string of five-star reviews during its run at the Kiln Theatre, The Son will transfer into the heart of the West End for a limited season at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre.

Forming part of the acclaimed trilogy – alongside The Father and The Mother – the simultaneously standalone The Son is directed by award winner Michael Longhurst, and written by celebrated playwright Florian Zeller.

The story follows Nicolas as he struggles with the repercussions of his parents’ divorce. Skipping school and spouting increasing lies, he hopes to find respite with his father and his new family. When this proves unsuccessful, he decides that returning to his mother might be the answer. As his options begin to narrow, the play delves into the often uncomfortable truths of depression.

Described by The Observer as a “compulsive, involving, emotionally stirring evening” and by The Telegraph as having a “devastating visceral impact”, The Son arrives at London’s Duke Of York’s Theatre from 24 August 2019 for a limited ten week run.
