The stage production of The Exorcist set for UK premiere

The stage production of The Exorcist is set to make it’s UK premiere at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The play by John Pielmeier is based on the original novel by William Peter Blatty and will run from 21 October to 5 November.

Audiences will be most familiar with the novel’s movie adaptation, which won as Oscar in 1973.

The film was directed by William Friedkin and became one of the highest grossing movies of all time. The story follows the young Regan, who is possessed by the devil, and Father Damien who comes to save her soul.

Pielmeier’s stage version ran in 2012 in Los Angeles and is receiving its UK premiere at Birmingham Rep in association with Bill Kenwright Ltd.

The Exorcist runs at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 21 October to 5 November.
