The full cast has been announced for the world premiere of James Graham’s new play Labour of Love. The production is set to open in the West End on the 15 September, running through until the 2 December at London’s Noel Coward Theatre, with tickets available now.

Veteran TV, film and theatre actors Martin Freeman and Sarah Lancashire will be joined by Rachael Stirling, Kwong Loke, Dickon Tyrell and Susan Wokoma. Presented by Michael Grandage Company and Headlong, it marks the return of MGC to the West End following Photograph 51, and Headlong’s first outing since People, Places and Things, 1984, and writer James Graham’s This House.

Graham has once again teamed up with director Jeremy Herrin for the political satire, delving into the complicated relationship between a Labour MP and his constituency agent. It promises to be a poignant insight into British party politics, drawing influence from the recent turbulent state of Government.

Labour MP David Lyons cares about modernisation and “electability”… His constituency agent, Jean Whittaker cares about principles and her community. Set away from the Westminster bubble in the party’s traditional northern heartlands, this is a clash of philosophy, culture and class against the backdrop of the Labour Party over 25 years, as it moves from Kinnock through Blair into Corbyn… and beyond?
