The musical is once again being supersized for the festive period.
Elf, the West End and Broadway musical based on the Hollywood blockbuster film, will tour the UK this December, once again transformed into a Christmas spectacular.
The musical will take to Liverpool, Glasgow and London, starring Shaun Williamson (EastEnders) in the role of Buddy the Elf’s father, and actress and singer Kym Marsh (Coronation Street) as Buddy’s girlfriend, Jovie.
Tam Ryan will return to the role of Buddy, made famous in the movie by comedy star Will Ferrell.
The cast also features Father Christmas and a line-up of 70 performers, including those from local Pauline Quirke Academy stage schools.
Kym Marsh stars as Michelle Connor in ITV’s Coronation Street, having rose to fame as a member of pop outfit Hear’Say and celebrating a subsequent solo career.
Shaun Williamson became a household name as Barry Evans in EastEnders, more recently appearing on Al Murray’s Great British Pub Quiz.
Elf first opened in London’s Dominion Theatre, bringing the tale of Buddy the Elf leaving Santa at the North Pole to seek his real father in New York to life. The production features a book by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray), and an original score of new songs.
The staging will once again boast giant screens in front of the 5,000 seat arena layout, with a 70 foot wide stage. Some scenes will take place above and around the audience.
Here are those dates:
7 – 8 December 2019 – M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool
14 – 16 December 2019 – The SSE Hydro, Glasgow
21 – 23 December 2019 – The SSE Arena Wembley, London
