Our weekly round up of this week's biggest new tours, shows and events.
Due to overwhelming demand, Dreamgirls has been extended at the Savoy Theatre until the 22 September 2018.
The musical follows The Dreams, Effie, Lorrell and Deena, as they navigate the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history.
Taking on the musical rollercoaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, it tests the friendship of Effie White and her fellow singers.
With music by Henry Krieger and a book by Tom Eyen, the fictitious plot is built around the real-life exploits of The Supremes, The Shirelles and more aspiring 1960s acts.
Marisha Wallace, Moya Angela, and Karen Mav recently took on the role of Effie White, following the departure of Amber Riley.
Asmeret Ghebremichael continues as Lorrell Robinson, with Joe Aaron Reid remaining as Curtis Taylor Jr.
They are joined by Broadway’s Brennyn Lark as Deena Jones, Tosh Wanogho-Maud as Jimmy Early, Durone Stokes as C.C. White, Delroy Brown as Marty, and Kimmy Edwards as Michelle Morris.
Marisha Wallace joined the cast at the Savoy Theatre from Broadway, having celebrated rave reviews as Effie in the Dallas Theatre Center production.
She has original roles in Disney’s Aladdin and Something Rotten! on Broadway, and toured the US in Book of Mormon.
Moya Angela played Effie White in the North American revival tour of Dreamgirls, as well as having toured with Disney’s The Lion King and being part of the original Broadway cast of Ghost the Musical.
Karen Mav joined Dreamgirls last year as her professional theatre debut. She was also a contestant on ITV’s The X Factor in 2015.
The West End cast recently performed music from the show in a very special lounge setup. Watch the video of the performance below:
