Don Quixote is now showing in the West End
The production stars David Threlfall and Rufus Hound and audiences are loving it.
David Threlfall and Rufus Hound lead the West End transfer of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Don Quixote. The show is now open at London’s Garrick Theatre.

Transferring from the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Angus Jackson directed production will run until the 2 February 2019.
The show has been receiving rave reviews. The Guardian gave Don Quixote four stars out of five, describing it as “a joyous piece of popular theatre” with The Times calling it “a Christmas delight.”
Don Quixote follows the adventures of a travelling knight and his squire, portrayed by Threlfall and Hound respectively.
Threlfall’s credits include Channel 4’s groundbreaking Shameless, in which he played lead role Frank Gallagher.
Hound’s recent work includes War Of The Roses at the Rose Theatre in Kingston and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Savoy Theatre.
Based on Miguel de Cervantes’ novel, the play has been adapted by writer, journalist and award-winning poet James Fenton.
“We are delighted that Angus Jackson’s joyful production of Don Quixote is going to be shared with West End audiences this autumn, following my production of Imperium playing at the Gielgud Theatre and our regular winter season of Shakespeare plays at the Barbican,” says RSC artistic director Gregory Doran.
“Don Quixote’s journey with his faithful sidekick is one of the world’s most famous stories, and James Fenton’s glorious adaptation brings Cervantes’ novel wonderfully to life.”
Creative credits for the production include design by Robert Innes Hopkins, music by Grant Olding, combat by Malcolm Ranson and movement by Lucy Cullingford.
First seen in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2016, this production of Don Quixote is currently open at London’s Garrick Theatre in the West End.
