Internationally acclaimed musical Dear Evan Hansen has taken home two big wins at the recent WhatsOnStage Awards, days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a very special Royal Gala performance.
Prince William and Catherine visited London’s Noël Coward Theatre on Tuesday 25 February in aid of The Royal Foundation, the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Royal visit comes as Dear Evan Hansen extends its West End run to 27 June 2020, having consistently wowed audiences on both in England’s capital and on Broadway.
Continuing the musical’s huge week, Dear Evan Hansen has also secured seven nominations at the coveted Olivier Awards.
Alongside the Best New Musical category – which pits the hit production against & Juliet, Amélie The Musical and Waitress – Dear Evan Hansen also celebrates nods for newcomer Sam Tutty’s portrayal of the title character.
His co-stars Jack Loxton and Rupert Young will go head-to-head in the Best Actor In A Supporting Role In A Musical category, while Lauren Ward and Lucy Anderson do the same for Best Actress In A Supporting Role In A Musical.
Writing duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul – alongside Alex Lacamoire – are shortlisted in the Best Original Score category, joined by & Juliet, Amélie The Musical, Fiddler On The Roof and Waitress.
The winners will be revealed at the star-studded ceremony on Sunday 5 April at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Dear Evan Hansen continues its West End run, now booking until 27 June 2020.
