What if Juliet’s famous ending was really just her beginning, the musical asks, and what if she decided to choose her own fate?

Featuring the iconic music of globally acclaimed songwriter Max Martin, & Juliet plays from 10 September to 12 October 2019 at the Manchester Opera House before opening in the London’s Shaftesbury Theatre on 2 November 2019.

Cast members Cassidy Janson (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Oliver Tompsett (Kinky Boots, Wicked), David Bedella (In The Heights, Mack and Mabel) and Melanie La Barrie (Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof) took time out of their rehearsal schedule to chat about the brand new music, and things to come. Watch what they had to say above.

They join Miriam-Teak Lee, Arun Blair-Mangat, Jordan Luke Gage, Tim Mahendran, Jocasta Almgill and more when the show opens later this month.

Miriam-Teak Lee’s previous work includes the role of Claire DeLoone in On The Town – for which she was honoured with the Best Actress in a Musical award at the Stage Debut Awards – and in the original London cast of Hamilton.

Songwriter Max Martin’s iconic hits include Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time and Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do.

For a taste of things to come, listen to newly announced cast member Oliver Thompsett perform Backstreet Boys’ Larger Than Life, as well as lead Miriam-Teak Lee perform Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time at the official & Juliet website.

Martin is also responsible for over 20 more stateside No.1 singles, and many more that reached the top 10.

& Juliet

& Juliet reimagines the final scene of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Romeo & Juliet, seeing the title character run off to Paris with Nurse and her best friend.

It promises a comic blast of fun and glorious pop music, proving that when it comes to love, there’s always life after Romeo.

The show itself will feature some of Martin’s biggest hits including Britney Spears’ world-famous debut, Backstreet Boys’ Everybody and Can’t Feel My Face by The Weeknd. All have been arranged for & Juliet by Tony and Grammy winner Bill Sherman.

Luke Sheppard (In The Heights) takes on directing duties, with a story written by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek). Choreography is provided by Jennifer Weber, and set design by Soutra Gilmour.
