Things to do near Six The Musical

You’ll find plenty to do and see near the Vaudeville Theatre. Just seven minutes from the theatre is the National Gallery, which features over 2000 European paintings from the thirteenth to nineteenth century. The Courtauld Gallery is another beautiful art museum nearby, situated in the picturesque Somerset House and featuring a curated collection of works by great artists, including Monet, Van Gogh and Cézanne.

For a unique piece of sight-seeing, visit Strand Lane Roman Bath, a National Trust sit ten minutes from the theatre. Cheekily named, what was once thought to be the remains of a Roman bath was actually found to be a Somerset House cistern from the 1600s, and has a colourful history well worth exploring.

Five minutes’ walk from the Vaudeville Theatre is Covent Garden, where you’ll find plenty to discover, including the London Transport Museum and the Infinity Chamber, as well as unique boutiques and occasional street theatre.

For something competitive, try Bat & Ball Covent Garden, ten minutes from the Adelphi Theatre. Described as a ‘social playground’, they offer a wide range of activities, from pub classics like darts, ping-pong, shuffleboard and pool to a minigolf course and karaoke rooms.

With Covent Garden just around the corner from the Vaudeville Theatre, you’ll find lots of top brands and independent stores in your immediate area. A nine minute walk from the theatre is St Martin’s Courtyard, home to a curated selection of fashion and beauty stores, whilst ten minutes’ away is Neal’s Yard, where you can shop lifestyle and wellness brands, grab a coffee, and take colourful photos.

If you fancy the walk, Carnaby Street is twenty minutes away, a famous stretch of shopping real estate with a history dating back to the 1600s. Just a little further at twenty-five minutes’ walk away, Oxford Street hosts around 300 retailers, so you’re sure to find what you’re looking for, along with quite a bit extra.

The Nell Gwynne – Named after the Drury Lane actress who became the infamous mistress of Charles II, this historic pub offers a great selection of local beers, wines and spirits.

Tube stations and bus stops near Six The Musical

The Vaudeville Theatre is easy to reach by public transport. The closest tube stop is Charing Cross, three minutes away. It’s served by the Northern and Bakerloo lines and is also the closest station via National Rail. Covent Garden, on the Piccadilly line, is six minutes away, as is Embankment, on the Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern lines. Multiple buses also drop off and pick up nearby. It’s best to plan your route with TFL.

The National Portrait Gallery – There are lots of Tudors hanging in this famous gallery, just around the corner from the Vaudeville Theatre. You’ll find Henry himself here – and more importantly, five of his six wives.

The Tower of London – Henry VIII was the last monarch to use this London landmark as a royal residence, and there’s lots of Tudor history to uncover here – this is the site where Anne Boleyn was said to have stayed before her execution. You can also visit the Crown Jewels, see the famous ravens, and learn plenty more about the long history of the Tower.

Hampton Court Palace – If you’re willing to travel a little outside of London, head to Richmond and visit Hampton Court Palace and the stunning Hampton Court Gardens. This was one of Henry’s favourite residences, and you might recognise it as a filming location from lots of popular period dramas. Explore the Great Halls and Tudor Kitchens and learn more about day to day life at court in the Six era.

Greenwich Park – Once home to the birthplace of Henry VIII, this park served as the hunting grounds for the royal palace at Greenwich, and offers sweeping views of the London skyline. Centuries of British history collide here in one of London’s eight Royal Parks. It’s also the home of the world-famous Royal Observatory.
