Life after Moyes: who will be the next Man Utd manager?

Following a weekend of speculation, Manchester United manager David Moyes has been sacked, only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former Everton boss struggled to follow in his predecessor’s footsteps, leading the club to a relatively lowly seventh in the Premier League, where they face the prospect of their first season without Champions League football since 1995.

So, who will be the next manager to take up the challenge at Man Utd?

Ryan Giggs
Having their most decorated player as manager may be a dream come true for Man Utd fans, but his role as interim manager for the rest of the season will show if he is ready for the next step up.

Jurgen Klopp
A strong contender after winning two Bundesliga titles and guiding Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final last season. The entertaining, fearless football he has created at Borussia Dortmund in recent seasons will certainly keep United fans happy.

Louis Van Gaal
The Holland coach and former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager may just be what the Manchester club need to weather the storm, and he should be able to get the best out his fellow countryman, Robin Van Persie.

Diego Simone
Atletico Madrid’s manager has already won the Europa League, Copa Del Rey and UEFA Super Cup with the club and now they’re in the Champions League semi-final and in poll position to win La Liga, in front of Barca and arch rivals Real Madrid.
