Women In Sport: Jade Jones and Lauren Williams
The Taekwondo champions tell us about their journey.
Today, on International Women’s Day we are launching our Women in Sport campaign. Across 2019 we will be speaking to women who have achieved success in their chosen field, sharing their stories on how and why they got to where they are, what it means to them to be a female role model, plus advice for any girls or women who dream of emulating them.
In this video, GB Taekwondo’s Lauren Williams and Jade Jones detail how they got into their sport, who inspired them and what their upcoming goals are.
Jade Jones MBE became a household name in 2012, taking home the Olympic gold medal, which she retained four years later in Rio.
Lauren Williams is a double European champion and has high hopes of winning Olympic Gold in Tokyo in 2019.
Filmed at the home of British Taekwondo in Manchester, both athletes detail what inspired them to try the sport.
Both athletes will be competing at this year’s World Championships, taking place in Manchester in May 2019.
