Barbarians coach Robbie Deans has announced the Barbarians line-up for their clash against New Zealand’s All Blacks on Saturday.

Former All Black champion Julian Savea will face off against his team for the first time in the Killik Cup match. He’ll face his younger brother Ardie, playing for the All Blacks.

“It’s going to be strange coming up against Ardie – he beat me to playing with the Barbarians too so this will be cool,” said Savea. “I’m not expecting any sort of leniency. I’m just going to step him, go round that way!”

Andy Ellis, a 2011 World Cup winner, will captain the Barbarians. His team includes former South African captain Adriaan Strauss, Australia’s Sam Carter, and New Zealanders Dom Bird, Steven Luatua, and Luke Whitelock.

Nine of the players in the squad featured in the 2016 tour which saw the Barbarians draw 31-31 against South Africa at Wembley, and wins over the Czech Republic and Fiji.

Saturday marks the 11th meeting between the sides, and first since meeting in 2009 at Twickenham Stadium.

We recently spoke to former England player, World Cup winner, and Barbarians co-coach Will Greenwood about their imminent clash with the All Blacks.
