Ticketmaster has teamed up with Nordoff Robbins for Get Loud 2017.

Take part here

A handful of staff from the Ticketmaster UK offices recently took part in a Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy session, designed to provide information and examples of how music therapy can support the development and wellbeing of various people.

Harnessing the power of music, the session aims to encourage communication and self-expression, delivered outside of Ticketmaster to a range of children and adults. Music therapy has proven to be vital in supporting the health, wellbeing and social interaction of clients with autism, Alzheimers, mothers and children, mental health support groups, and much more. Trained music therapists tailor activities to support the individual needs of their clients.

The charity’s visit to the Ticketmaster UK offices celebrates Get Loud 2017, Nordoff Robbins’ national awareness day on the 13 September 2017. The London based organisation invites people to get involved by fundraising, taking part in the social media led #HeadphoneChallenge, or to attend one of their brilliant music sessions. To find out more on each of these, head to the Nordoff Robbins website.

The #HeadphoneChallenge allows all people to get involved. Simply grab your headphones and your favourite track, sing along, film it, and share on social media using the appropriate hashtag.

You can also donate £3 to Nordoff Robbins to help others find their voice by texting LOUD13 to 70070.

Nordoff Robbins also have four centres in the UK, two in London, one in Croydon, and one in Manchester. Find out more about the centres on the charity’s official website.

Find out below what happened when Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy arrived at Ticketmaster HQ.

Here at Ticketmaster UK, we are unsurprisingly very fond of music. Staff therefore jumped at the chance to take part in one of the specially designed therapy sessions, to get a deeper understanding of the power of the valuable work undertaken by Nordoff Robbins. Following a handful of fun and engaging icebreakers, which saw staff assign a physical movement to their name to be repeated by others, it was time to form a raucous samba band. Grabbing a percussion instrument of choice, staff were then taught a manageable rhythm to maintain, as they followed instructions to increase or decrease volume and intensity. The final result allowed staff to run through various drum patterns, with a volunteer leading the Ticketmaster UK samba band.

The session was followed by a Silent Disco in the Ticketmaster UK offices, including the perfect opportunity for all staff to take part in the #HeadphoneDisco. Split across three channels, staff danced the evening away to a blend of pop, rock, and electronic music, with infectious smiles across their faces. Needless to say, as the evening progressed, so did the volume of voices. Now, it’s your turn.
