Lady Gaga to release new track for Wednesday season two

The pop star will also guest star in the new season of the Tim Burton show with Jenna Ortega

Lady Gaga is confirmed to have penned a new track for the second season of Wednesday, the Tim Burton show about teenage Wednesday Addams starring Jenna Ortega. Gaga’s new track, ‘Dead Dance’, will appear on the soundtrack for the season, and the pop star herself is set to guest star as new character Rosaline Rotwood.

‘Dead Dance’ follows the release of Lady Gaga’s seventh studio album Mayhem, which dropped earlier this year in March. Some fans have theorised that the new track may be an offcut from the album. Gaga is reported to be releasing a theatrical music video alongside the single.

Lady Gaga’s relationship with Wednesday began after season one of the Netflix show, when a viral fan edit of Wednesday’s dance sequence put her 2011 song ‘Bloody Mary’ back in the charts – despite the fact that it wasn’t actually used in the show.

At SXSW earlier this year, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega said of working with Gaga: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim, two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.

“Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange. I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity.”

The second season of Wednesday will arrive on Netflix in two parts, with part one out now and part two premiering September 3.
